Fund Raiser Raffle

Due to the sucess of last years raffle we have decided to have another one this year. John Helgason has offered to make a hand crafted rocking chair, Mike has offered to make one of his Intarsia Eagles and Ron has offered to donate a knife for the 3 prizes. Please let Mike or Colleen know if you are interested in heading up this special project for the chapter.

Ramblin Rose Double District Rally

It is time to start planning your trip to the Regional Rally in Innisfail, AB. We have received all kinds of information from Ralph and Joan Young our BC District Directors. Feel free to see us after the meeting if you want to go through the information or if you prefer call or stop by when you are in the area.

PotLuck Dinner at Mokhi's

Mokhi has offered to open her home to us for a Potluck dinner on Saturday March 9th at 6:00pm. Beverages will be provided so all we need to do is bring our favorite dish and join in for what is sure to be a fun evening.

Chili Cookout

The talk around the chapter seems like everyone really enjoyed last years Chili Cookout so we are going to make it an annual event. With the hopes of slightly warmer and drier weather we have picked April as the month for this event, and if it is a little chilly out then I guess it will be perfect chili weather. Please plan to join us and watch the newsletter and website for further details. We will need a volunteer to coordinate the event and a couple of cooks to make the chili, please let Mike and Colleen know if you are interested.

Heads -Up for Safety

This Article I ran a cross I thought was very applicable to us as bikers while we are waiting for summer to come along. Allow me to share it with you.
DRY ROT!
By J.R. Davis
Keeping your tires in good shape includes constant attention to them, maintaining proper inflation at all times, and a little luck in avoiding street hazards. But dry rot is a problem some of our tires seem to experience, particularly if our motorcycles are not ridden year round.
There are a few simple things that we can do to minimise dry rot:

1) Do not store your bike near electrical appliances. Ozone is generated around electrical appliances and is primarily responsible for cracks in your tire rubber.

2) Do not use anything like Armor All on the tires. These products make the rubber look nice, but they also rob the rubber of chemicals they were manufactured with which are designed to minimise the effects of ozone.

3) Do not park your bike with tires sitting on oil spots. The oil will deteriorate the tire rubber over time.

He makes a good point here. After all the shining and cleaning that we do to make our bikes look good. After we've bought all the chrome the bike can carry. It's the round black things called tires that get us to the next bike show where once again we can strut our stuff. Or should I say bike our stuff. CE David Elves
